Undergraduate Student
Department of Environmental Science
Research interests: Nutrient systems and cycles, soil chemistry, biogeochemistry
Biography
I am currently in my final year of undergraduate studies as an Environmental Science student. I grew up in Guatemala, in a tropical ocean environment, which has inspired my interests in biogeochemistry today! In my free time, I enjoy hiking volcanoes, such as Acatenango and exploring tide pools. My aspiration is to advance understanding of environmental systems, to then better observe restoration efforts amidst a changing global climate.
Research
As an undergraduate student in the lab, I contribute to carbon cycle studies by analyzing Dissolved Carbon (organic and inorganic); particularly as I aid postgraduate studies. My work supports broader research investigating carbon dynamics in aquatic systems, and I look forward to exploring my own research questions regarding carbon cycling patterns.
