Carbonate geochemistry, microbialites, non-marine carbonates, evaporites and isotope geochemistry
Biography
Graduated in Geology (2004) and Master’s Degree in Exploratory Geology (2007) from the Federal University of Paraná – Brazil, and a Ph.D. in Natural Sciences (2013) from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich, Switzerland (ETHZ). She was a guest researcher for the Isotope Geochemistry course at CALTECH (USA) and participated in the Geobiology Course organized by NASA and the Agouron Institute. She has experience in Geosciences, with an emphasis on Mineralogy and Geochemistry, working mainly on the following topics: carbonate geochemistry, geomicrobiology, and forensic isotopy. Currently, she is a Professor of Mineralogy and Geochemistry in the Geology Department at UFPR, Head of the LAMIR Institute, advisor to the Rector’s office at UFPR, and deputy coordinator of the Forensic Science Center – UFPR. A mother of two, she was on maternity leave in 2014 and 2019.
Research
My research focuses on stable isotopic geochemistry applied to carbonate & evaporitic minerals. I am head of Institute LAMIR -UFPR and coordinator of an R&D Project “Clumped isotope and Sr in situ applied to PreSalt carbonates sucession”. The projects include grants to establish, an advanced light and heavy isotope laboratory for studying minerals and rocks (LAMIR), including the first clumped isotope facility in South America.
