At UCSC, I will conduct surveys and focused interviews to assess the policy landscape for reconstructing wetlands as a nature-based solution to mitigate climate change. My work will include a detailed valuation of coastal wetlands’ ecosystem services in California, emphasizing who benefits from these services, and identifying potential economic risks and opportunities. This approach aims to ensure that wetland restoration projects are designed with a strong focus on environmental justice, integrating the needs of vulnerable communities and addressing equity in access to ecosystem benefits.
