Biography
Delaney Pues PhD student and Eugene Cota Robles Fellow in the Environmental Studies Department at the University of California Santa Cruz. Delaney’s research investigates the interplay between carbon dioxide removal (CDR) and the critical domains of climate and environmental justice. Her primary research focus involves understanding what justice means for marginalized communities and how it can be advanced through community engagement. Delaney has spoken at leading institutions through lectures, panels, roundtables, and meetings on the role of justice in CDR. She is also a Senior Fellow at the Carbon Business Council where she leads work on Tribal engagement and develops educational materials on justice and engagement for CDR companies. She developed a responsible deployment training program, the first of its kind, which is required for CDR companies to receive funding from leaders in the field, including the XPRIZE Foundation. Before her graduate school program, Delaney also consulted for Carbon180’s Environmental Justice team.
