Biography
I am a third-year environmental science student and am minoring in chemistry. I’ve mostly lived in Humboldt County and spent a lot of time surfing and sailing in the ocean, and hiking in redwood forests. With an interest in math, chemistry and physics, I wanted to learn to quantify the environment around me to understand its cycles.

Research
I am interested in looking at water and soil chemistry, especially looking at carbon species. I am currently studying the effects of carbon burial in the form of biochar in wetland restoration. By analyzing pore water samples for carbon and heavy metal content, I plan to quantify its effect on marsh restoration and carbon sequestration. I have also been assisting in the sampling and analysis of carbon in surface water samples in order to quantify lateral carbon flows in the Elkhorn Slough.
