Research interests: Dissolved gas lateral fluxes, aquatic chemistry, hydrology
Biography
I am currently finishing my senior year studying Environmental Science after transferring from UH Manoa and Foothill Community college. I spent my childhood digging through mud, exploring plants and critters in my backyard, and peering at the underside of algae encrusted docks. Which I still do now and hope to turn into a full time career. I continue to be very interested in understanding the systems and processes that make up the natural world.
Research
My research surrounds the lateral fluxes of dissolved gasses in the Elkhorn Slough, in particular Nitrous Oxide and Methane. While the vertical fluxes of these potent greenhouse gasses in tidal marshes have been studied in greater detail, the lateral fluxes of dissolved gasses in channel waters have not. This gap is a potentially crucial missing piece of the carbon and ghg budgets impacting how we understand and quantify the blue carbon potential of these spaces.
